Jeans to Shorts

DIY Shorts

This is my first DIY post, so I hope you like it.I have had some jeans for a long time and I just don't wear them because they don't fit how I would like them too. I had the idea of creating shorts, I had no idea if it would work as I'm not very creative person but I gave it a go.

First you will need:
  1. Old jeans
  2. Pencil
  3. Rule
  4. Safety pins
  5. Sewing scissors (or strong scissors)
  6. Pins
  7. Sewing machine or needed and thread

To start off you need to decide the look you want to go for, I choose to have folded edge shorts but you could go for a raw edge look.
Then you need to try your jeans on and work out the length you want them. Mark it with a safety pin on the side seam.

Once you have worked out the length you want your shorts get your rule and draw in pencil line about an inch or more below your safety pins on the front and back.

Next cut along the line, don't worry about how neat it is because we will be folding them over. Then you can try them on to check the length.

Next you need to get your pins and fold up the bottom to your desired length. Start pinning all the way round the top of the fold. Once you have finished pinning you can try them on again to recheck the length. Be careful of the pins.

Once you are happy with the folds you can start sewing. Pick out the thread colour you want and place it in the sewing machine or in the needle if you our hand sewing it. As you our sewing take out the pins as you go along.

Once you have finished sewing, you just need to neaten up the edges by tying the spear thread to stop it from fraying. You can also add other detail to your shorts to make them more personalised.

These are my completed shorts, I am really happy with how they turned out, if you want me to do anymore DIYs then just comment down bellow.

Thanks for reading

Update

So I don't really know where to start, it has been to long time since I last wrote on here. I didn't want to go into a list of excuses but basically I have have had endless exams and sixth form preparation to do. Although I am in the misted of my exams at the moment I have a free evening (that is very rare). instead of revising which I properly should be doing wanted to just update you all on whats been going on and what I have planed for my page.

1) So like I said I am doing my exams (GCSE) so my social life is no existent.

2) Also I like I already said, I am moving into sixth form next year, if I do well in my exams, but that means I have to move school as my school docent have on. This meant endless applications and tours of many different schools. Although I have had offers the process is not over yet!

3) My dad started up a blog a fews months ago because he ran the London marathon, it remained me of mine which is one of the reasons why I have written this. http://andyrunslondon.com/about/ (he hasn't written anything recently but there might be more to come)

4) Summer is coming soon and as I am on study leave (I don't have to go to school for lessons just for exams) I get an extra long holiday once my exams are over. However it also means I have a lot of free time. I plan to put up at least one post a week if not more.

5) I'm going to have more chatty posts where I just talk about whats been going on in my life but also the normal fashion and beauty. If you have any requests or suggestions to what I could do that would be greatly appreciated! I'm a bit out of practice!

6) Im also going to write as many as I can and schedule them to upload once summer is over but they might not be as regular.

I think thats all I wanted to say, I am sorry for my disappearance for the past months but sadly school comes first. Hope you will enjoy what is to come, bear with me as I need to get back into the swing of things. Also good luck with those of you doing exams!
